Life can get busy sometimes and it can be easy for things like your faith to decrease in priority. If your faith is important to you, however, and you are wanting to get in touch with it again but aren’t quite sure where to start, our suggestions can give you some guidance.
#1 Make the Commitment To Dedicate Time To Practice
The first thing you need to do to take a step towards reconnecting with your faith is actually make the commitment that you are going to do so. Set aside some time in your life where you can practice your faith and make a real effort to do this on a regular basis. Whether you have strayed from your faith for a short time or it has been a significant amount of time since you have practiced, the first step to recommitting is recognising the value that it holds in your life and deciding that you are going to make the effort.
#2 Attend a Service
Now that you have set aside some time, use this opportunity to attend a service. Churches such as the Collective Community Church make an effort to welcome everyone into their community so you don’t need to worry about being an outcast on your first day back. Community is extremely important for faith and it is highly likely that you will feel a deep sense of reconnection as soon as you embrace this community again. Participating in practices of faith with others is extremely inspiring and will likely remind you of the power of your faith and the importance it can have in your life.
Now that you have been reminded of the power and impact your faith has, the next step to reconnecting is to start praying. Once you have established a connection with your community again, it is important to establish a connection to God. Taking a quiet moment each day to pray will strengthen this connection and help you to feel close to your faith once again.
#4 Get Involved
Once you are feeling close to your community and to God again, it’s time to start getting involved! Find out what your church are doing within your community and see if you can help out. Whether it’s helping those in need, running a fundraiser or any other activity, using your spirituality to influence your environment for good will help you to realign with the values that you find inspiring about your faith.
#5 Listen To the News
Your faith likely has a wider community outside your direct one. To further those feelings of being in touch with your faith, stay updated about what’s going on in your faith as a whole. There are podcasts, news sites and other mediums available where people who share a faith communicate. Look into these and once again deepen that connection that you can feel to your faith as a whole.
When looking to reconnect with your faith it can be difficult to know where to start. It’s important, however, to make the commitment to doing so if you really want to do it and then take actions that will get you there. These are just some of the things you can do to help you feel closer to your religion and able to realign yourself with its values.
