Business Lessons You Can Learn From Steve Wozniak

If you weren’t already aware, Steve Wozniak co-founded tech giant Apple, alongside Steve Jobs and he is self-proclaimed true geek. He loves tinkering around with computers and he invented the Apple II computer. Steve Wozniak was able to be an inventor and an entrepreneur, but as many people are well aware of, Steve Jobs really took the reigns of Apple and was the face that everyone knew.

All Steve Wozniak really wanted to do was create amazing things, which is why he didn’t really have many problems with Steve Jobs becoming the face of Apple. By doing this it meant that Steve Wozniak didn’t really have to deal with the marketing or other aspects of the business, he could just build. Although the stuff that he worked on were very important aspects for the business.

While he primarily liked to build things, there are still a lot of business lessons you can learn from the great Steve Wozniak! If you are looking for some inspiration and advice, have a read on below to find out more:

See Projects To The Finish

One of the most important lessons Steve Wozniak gives is the drive to see projects to the end and the ability to finish what you started. If you keep picking things up and “playing” with them until it gets boring, you probably won’t achieve much in business. You need to have that drive and willpower to push through and see things to the very end.

Keep It Simple Stupid

When Apple products first hit the market they wowed customers with the simplistic design. This same notion can be applied within the business context as well. It is very easy to overcomplicate things and get confused and overwhelmed. In this day and age there is so much going on, you may not even know which way is up.

If you feel things are getting overly complicated, then it is important to take a step back and look at the bigger picture, which will hopefully make it a little bit simpler for you. It also doesn’t hurt to re-visit old projects to ensure that the simplest method is being used.

Don’t Worry, Be Happy

Steve Wozniak explains that it is important to do something that makes you happy (most of the time – not everyone is going to have good days 100% of the time). If you are happy and what you are doing is fulfilling then you are more likely to be successful, as well as be happier in other aspects of your life (work shouldn’t be the be all and end all of your life).

Be Different

If you try to be just like everyone else then you probably aren’t going to be amazing enough to stand out from the crowd. Make sure you try to go against the grain and find unusual ways of doing something. If you are good enough you may find the solution to a problem that a lot of people have and be able to sell that solution to them, while also disrupting the market and getting other businesses to take note.

Find What You Are Good At

Everyone is different and we all have different skills and certain things that we are good at. Not only do you have to find something that you actually enjoy doing, but you also should probably look to be good at whatever it is, otherwise you may not be successful. Think of what you want to accomplish in your career, and what the steps you need to take to get there.
