Tips For The Kitchen: When Cooking And Cleaning

It could be for cooking, it could be for cleaning, there are numerous tips for keeping it clean and tidy, as well as cooking in the kitchen. Here are some random tips that you can implement into the kitchen to make your life easier.

Prevent bubbling over with a wooden spoon

It’s happened to us all. When cooking pasta, and the pot starts to bubble over and froth, spilling over the top and all over the stovetop. To prevent this, simply place a wooden spoon over the top of the pot, across the rim. This stops the bubbling over.

Run potatoes or other dirty vegetables through the dishwasher

Yes, the image of this is ridiculous, but honestly, this works best for cleaning dirty vegetables. It is important, of course, to make sure there is no soap in the dishwasher, you don’t want your vegetables that clean.

To get rid of the seafood smell in the microwave, heat a soaped towel

If you’ve just used the microwave to heat a form of seafood, from fish to octopus, it’s inevitably going to smell. That smell can permeate through the whole room and is painfully obvious for a while. To get rid of this smell, get a dish towel with some soap on it, heat the rag for a few minutes, leave it in the microwave for about 30 mins and then wipe down the walls of the microwave afterward. The smell should be completely gone.

When measuring out sticky ingredients, coat the cup in cooking oil

Some recipes call for the use of certain sticky ingredients, and when measured, refuse to come fully out of the cup you used. This can be especially annoying when trying not to mix ingredients or trying to clean the cup. The solution to this is to coat the interior of the cup in cooking oil. This will ensure any sticky ingredient will come right out afterward.

Those were some random tips that can benefit your kitchen if implemented. We hope these have been helpful and can be of use to you and your kitchen practices.
