Tips For Keeping Your Kitchen Clean And Tidy

A couple of years ago, whenever I cooked in the kitchen, I would leave a trail of destruction behind me. Bowls, plates, and bits of food were placed everywhere, and I’d rarely get to the washing until later. This obviously caused some issues with the people who shared the kitchen with me. I learned a few things to keep the kitchen clean, especially when I cooked, and it’s helped a lot to keep it tidy. Without further ado, here are some tips to keep your kitchen clean and tidy.

Keep your stuff away in drawers and cupboards

This may seem obvious, but you’d be surprised how many people keep their utensils and bowls, etc. right there on their countertop! Keeping all your appliances and utensils on the countertop is a sure-fire way to make your kitchen not only look busy and clumsy but to make navigating when cooking even harder. You are better off keeping your stuff in drawers and cupboards so that your kitchen looks clean and tidy, and only taking out what you need at the time.

Clean while you wait in between cooking

This is one of the best tips I’ve gotten. I used to cook and wait for food to finish during waiting times, then clean everything at the end. Rather than doing this, clean what you have finished using when waiting for something to cook. In doing so, you minimize the number of things you have to clean at the end of the session, and it is much more efficient in the long run. Since you are already ‘in the zone’, you should be able to get the cleaning done fairly quickly.

Don’t start cooking until your kitchen is clean

If you are going to cook, and your kitchen is already in a bad state, it is much more efficient to clean the kitchen first before beginning to cook. Having things leftover on the countertop and in the sink isn’t going to do anything but impede your cooking process, and you’re going to be left with a lot of cleaning to do afterward.

So there you go, some tips to keep your kitchen clean and tidy.
